Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The mission of this ministry is to give Christians of every denomination a way to organize within an area — to come together when a place of worship is under hostility. Those who do these things do not care what the denomination is, only that it is Christian. We as the whole body of Christ are under attack. We are approaching a point similar to many that have occurred in the past, and unity will be key to the outcome.
Our name is Greek for Noninstitutional Christian Defense: we do not see denominations so much as traditions — some old, some new — but all paths lead to Christ, and there are those who seek to destroy all paths. To simplify our calling in three words: unite, serve, and rebuild.
To establish unity, we will be doing weekly online sermons, starting with our foundation series that will detail our mission further. Newsletters will go out on our website, with sermons in written form on Substack for those who prefer to read. We will also be on multiple other platforms to ensure proper outreach. As we get established online, the plan is to raise up chaplains to be our “eyes and ears” on the ground — to assist and evaluate the resources needed. The lines of communication we build are meant not only for the physical rebuilding of these places of worship, but also for strengthening the bond we share as Christians united in faith.
The reality is that hostile attacks on Christian places of worship are happening at rates high enough that they have to be recorded — something that used to be rare. Family Research Council has documented hundreds of hostile incidents against U.S. churches in recent years, and this year’s cases already stretch from North Carolina to Oklahoma to Denver — three different communities, three different traditions. The enemy takes many forms: political groups that hate religion, religious extremists, and one-off actors driven by other motives. You would have thought that those who oppose the Church would have learned by now: attacks on Christians only serve to unify us and strengthen our faith. This letter is the beginning of that conversation.
If God has placed a burden on you for Christian unity and tangible service, stay with us. Share this with a believer from a tradition different from your own. Pray for the congregations already repairing windows, roofs, and hearts. When sermon one is ready, watch it with someone who does not go to your church.
The vision is unity.
The reality is hostility that does not ask our denomination.
The response is the ancient one made new: become the kind of Church that hostility cannot scatter.
